Weekly Announcements: August 20 - August 26 New/Revised items…. RECEPTION FOR FR. DENNIS: This Sunday, August 20, will be Fr. Dennis's last Sunday at St. James. The Vestry will host a farewell potluck after the 10 AM service that day. The Vestry will provide meat and drinks. All are invited to being a covered dish or dessert. Note: A continental breakfast will be served this week due to the Farewell potluck. PEACHTREE GOSPEL SING! Please join us this Friday morning at 10:30 am for our monthly Gospel Sing at the Peachtree Assisted Living Center in Holiday Island. Help us bring the gift of music and fun to our dear Peachtree friends! “Continuing” items…. PARISH PICNIC! Mark down September 17 on your calendar to come to our fall Parish Picnic at Holiday Island’s Veterans’ Park pavilion. Great fun will be had by all at this POTLUCK event, where drinks will be provided. The picnic will start following the last Sunday morning service (around noon). Let’s kick of Fall in style! SUNDAY ADDITIONAL PARKING SPACE: The Crescent Hotel has graciously agreed to allow our church members to park in the spaces BEHIND their offices (in the house across the street from St. James’ House) on Sunday mornings, but NOT along the side of the building (parallel to Prospect Ave), which are spaces reserved for their employees. Please adhere to this guidance or we will lose the use of these sorely-needed spaces! ALTAR GUILD RAFFLE: The Altar Guild is raffling off a new Masterbuilt free standing electric grill, complete with cover, pizza stone, and fish/vegetable pan. Cheri Lacock and Loyanne Cope will sell tickets each Sunday until the parish picnic, to be held following the late service on September 17th at the Holiday Island Pavilion. One lucky winner will be announced at that time. You need not be present to win; just provide a valid matching ticket. Tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. The electric grill was donated by an anonymous donor with the request that all proceeds go to benefit the Altar Guild. We are very grateful for this generous donation. You may see the electric grill on display in the undercroft. CHURCH LIBRARY: Darlene Simmons and Tracey MacGowan are working to organize the church library located in St. James’ House. They ask for your patience as they sort through the books and put everything in order. Please place any books you may be returning on the small table in Mtr. Betsy’s office -- do not re-shelve the books. HEALING AFTER SUNDAY SERVICES: The sacrament of Unction (laying on of hands and/or anointing with oil) is available at the altar rail after each service every Sunday. Please remain in the church near the communion rail. The sacrament will begin as soon as worshipers have left or gone downstairs. Friends or family of those receiving the sacrament are encouraged to stay, stand behind the recipient and lay their hands on the person as well.
